A hepatobiliary surgeon is known as a surgical specialist who deals with surgical treatments for diseases that affect the gall bladder, pancreas, liver, and bile ducts. A hepatobiliary surgeon is qualified with a graduation in MBBS, followed by post-graduation in MS in general surgery. Further trained with MCh or DNB in surgical gastroenterology. They will also specialize in a fellowship course in hepato-biliary surgery. The conditions which are treated by a hepato biliary surgeon will be liver cysts, liver cirrhosis, liver cancer, abscesses in the liver, gall stones, hepatitis, cancer to the gall bladder, biliary obstruction, cholecystitis, bile duct cancer, cysts in pancreas, narrowing of bile ducts, pancreatic cancer, injuries to the bile duct, neuroendocrine tumors, chronic pancreatitis.
