Trigeminal neuralgia :
Trigeminal neuralgia is a nerve disorder that causes pain on one side of the face due to damage to the myelin of the nerve, pressure from the tumor or swollen blood vessel on the trigeminal nerve, injury to the trigeminal nerve due to trauma to the face. Pain is usually triggered by talking, smiling, brushing teeth, chewing, drinking, eating, shaving, exposure to hot and cold temperatures, touching, force of wind on face and when applying make-up. It is most commonly seen in female of age above 50 years on right side of face. Types include paroxysmal trigeminal neuralgia, where sharp and intense pain occurs in episodes and Trigeminal neuralgia with continuous pain. Factors that influence trigeminal neuralgia include high blood pressure, smoking, aging and family history of Trigeminal neuralgia.
