Stretch Marks :
Medically stretch marks are known as striae. Striae may be described as narrow streaks or lines on the skin. This occurs because the skin stretches or shrinks too quickly. This happens because a very fast shift occurs in collagen and elastin to prevent tearing at such skin areas. Some of the common causes for stretch marks include pregnancy, weight gain or loss, spurts of growth that may occur during puberty, and bodybuilding. They also develop because of certain diseases, for example Cushing's syndrome, and also because of long term use of corticosteroid creams or drugs.
Stretch marks usually initially develop as reddish, purplish or pinkish lines over time turn into whitish or silverish ones. Cosmetic imperfections, harmless enough to be sure to most individuals, stretch marks can also be managed by remedies like creams topically containing either retinoids or hyaluronic acid or laser treatment or microdermabrasion. These will be used to make the surface of the mark disappear but are permanent and likely never to be totally removed.
