Premenstrual syndrome :
Premenstrual syndrome or PMS encompasses some complaints that are presented starting from a week or two before a menstrual period. The factors contributing to this premenstrual syndrome include hormonal changes (estrogen and progesterone) related to the menstrual cycle. The significant signs of premenstrual syndrome include physical signs such as acne flare ups, pelvic pain, fatigue, bloating or a gassy feeling, headaches, and constipation or diarrhea. Premenstrual syndrome also triggers emotional signs such as irritability or lashing out towards others, mood swings, changes in the sex drive, feeling anxious, sad or having crying spells, trouble concentrating or brain fog, food cravings or increased or decreased appetite and having trouble sleeping. Premenstrual syndrome is managed by taking medications such as NSAIDs, making necessary lifestyle changes like eating a healthy, balanced diet, exercising regularly, getting plenty of sleep, practicing relaxation exercises, and avoiding smoking.
