Myopathy :
Myopathy is known as a group of diseases that can affect the skeletal muscles and are connected to the bones. This group of diseases will affect the muscle fibres and thus weaken the muscles. There are many types of myopathies, like inherited myopathies and congenital myopathies, mitochondrial myopathies, metabolic myopathies, acquired myopathies, which can be autoimmune myopathies, muscular dystrophies, toxic myopathy, infectious myopathies, endocrine myopathies, and critical illness myopathy. The symptoms that are noticed in myopathy will be muscle cramps, lack of energy, muscle weakness, muscle spasms, muscle stiffness, and exertion. The myopathy can be detected through physical examination of reflexes, balance, skin, muscle strength, sensation and diagnostic tests, including blood tests to check electrolytes, muscle enzymes, and autoimmune testing, which will involve ANA profile, MRI scan, rheumatoid factor, muscle biopsy, electromyography (EMG), and genetic tests. The treatment advised for myopathy will depend on the severity and type of myopathy, and it includes medications and physiotherapy.
