Myomectomy :
Myomectomy is a procedure where uterine fibroids are removed from the uterus. It is recommended when uterine fibroids cause pelvic pain, irregular bleeding, heavy menstrual bleeding, and inability to empty the bladder fully. It can help relieve bleeding between periods, heavy menstrual bleeding, iron deficiency anemia, pressure, and pelvic pain. It can be done in three ways that are abdominal myomectomy which is done through an incisional cut in the lower belly, laparoscopic myomectomy, which is minimally invasive and done through several small incisions, and hysteroscopic myomectomy, done through specialized scope without any incisions. The type of myomectomy is based on factors like fibroid size, number of fibroids, and location of fibroids. Complications include bleeding, infection, blood clots, damage to nearby organs, allergic reactions to anestheisa and high risk when a C-section delivery is needed.
