Missed Periods :
Missing periods for some days or even a week is normally not concerning, and missing a period for nearly three months indicates a condition called amenorrhoea. A wide range of factors contribute to this condition in any woman of any age group and include simple to chronic medical conditions. Missed periods occur due to various factors such as pelvic inflammatory disease, endometriosis, primary ovarian insufficiency, polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), thyroid or pituitary gland disorder, bleeding disorders, and ovarian cancer or uterine cancer. Lifestyle behaviors like stress, gaining or losing a significant amount of weight, viruses or other illnesses, and exercise routines that result in very low body fat are also responsible for causing missed periods. To treat this condition of missing periods, treatment involves taking medications, managing the underlying cause, and includes making lifestyle modifications, hormonal therapy, and nutritional counseling.
