Laparoscopic Sterilization :

Sagging or dropping of uterus from its normal position due to wakening of muscles and ligaments around uterus is known as prolapse of uterus. Though it can occur at any age, elder aged females are at higher risk. Multiple deliveries, women post menopause have weakened pelvic floor muscles which can no longer support the uterus resulting in its prolapse. In some cases it can slip out of its position so much that it can protrude out of uterus.

Prior pelvic floor surgeries, and family history of previous prolapses increase the risk. Menopausal women produce lesser oestrogen which maintains strength of pelvic floor among other functions. Mild cases doesn't require intervention as they don't interfere with normal life, but in severe cases it obstructs urination and normal bowel movement. Cystocele, rectocele, enterocele might be associated with this condition. Vaginal exercises as kegel can be advised, vaginal pessary can be used as a non surgical method. Surgery can be planned by the gynecologist according to the extent of prolapse.
