Keratitis :
Keratitis is a condition of the eye that causes corneal inflammation. The symptoms of keratitis are eye pain, watery eyes, red, irritated, and bloodshot eyes, sensitivity to light, blurry vision, problems opening the eyelid, and a feeling like something is there in the eye. Keratitis is caused due infectious organisms like bacteria, fungi, parasites, and viruses like herpes simplex and shingles and noninfectious causes like injuries to the eye, wearing contact lenses for a long time, having a foreign object in eye, exposure to ultraviolet light for too long, vitamin A deficiency and having an eyelid disorder or immune system condition which causes dry eyes. Keratitis is diagnosed by doing a complete eye exam, culture of discharge from the eye, and fluorescein stain test. Keratitis is treated by using lubricant eye drops and drops that can treat the infectious causes.
