GB Syndrome :
GB Syndrome is an abbreviated form of Guillain-Barre syndrome (GBS). It is otherwise known as acute inflammatory demyelinating polyradiculoneuropathy (AIDP), a neurological autoimmune disorder affecting the peripheral nervous system. It is clinically presented as muscle weakness, difficulty with ambulation/climbing stairs, sensations of tingling and numbness across the extremities, and other critical symptoms like paralysis. The exact etiological factors for causing GB syndrome are known. It is often triggered by viral or bacterial infections, post operative procedures, or coordination with certain vaccinations. A neurologist determines the clinical evaluation of the condition with the help of specific tests like nerve conduction study or spinal tap and recommends management options based on the severity. The treatment protocol includes a supportive care regimen with physical and rehabilitative therapy sessions, respiratory support, plasma exchange, and intravenous administration of immunoglobulins. A neurologist works closely with other specialty doctors to monitor the condition.
