Gallbladder Cancer :
The gallbladder is a tiny organ that is positioned under the liver. Its function is to store the digestive fluid called bile that is released by the liver. When cancerous cells begin to grow in the gallbladder, it is said that the individual has gallbladder cancer. These cells begin growing in the innermost layer of the gallbladder and spread outward.
Gallbladder cancer usually does not cause any symptoms in the early stages. As the disease progresses, it can cause symptoms like jaundice, unexplained weight loss, bloating, fever, nausea and vomiting. A doctor usually orders several tests to diagnose gallbladder cancer. Some of the tests required include liver function tests, ultrasound, CT scan, laparoscopy and biopsy. The treatment of gallbladder cancer depends on the stage of the tumour. The treatment may involve the surgical removal of the gallbladder or treatments such as chemotherapy or radiation therapy.
