Folliculitis :
This is inflammation of hair follicle, usually due to bacterial or fungal infection. It occurs at any place but is very common on the scalp, neck, face, and legs. According to research, it may result from several conditions, including friction clothing causes, friction caused while shaving or waxing, exposure to hot tubs or excessive sweating. The more severe conditions that affect the skin, such as eczema or acne increase someone's likelihood of developing folliculitis. Common symptoms include small red bumps or pustules around hair follicles that sometimes are accompanied by itching, pain, or tenderness. In serious cases, the affected area may become inflamed or develop with crusts. The most basic treatment of folliculitis is proper care of the affected area in order to remain clean and dry and often makes use of antiseptic washes that are normally accessible over the counter. Topical antibiotics may be given if there is a suspicion that the cause of infection could be bacteria. Oral antibiotics and antifungal drugs often come in for serious cases. Often a good hygiene practice, avoiding tight clothing, and clean shaving tools are preventive measures in case of recurrences.
