Epididymitis :
Epididymitis is a condition in which there is inflammation of the epididymis, a coiled tube present at the back of the testicles that is used to store and carry sperm. There are two different types of epididymitis such as acute epididymitis and chronic epididymitis. The major cause of epididymitis can be bacterial infections such as sexually transmitted infections like chlamydia or gonorrhea, and there are other less common causes of epididymitis infection in the prostate gland, blockage in the urethra, injury to groins, using a urinary catheter. The symptoms that are noticed in epididymitis can be fever, chills, pain in the scrotum radiating to the groin region, pain during urination, blood in semen, etc. The diagnostic tests done to diagnose the epididymitis are blood tests, urinalysis, ultrasound scans, and bacteria swab tests. Epididymitis can be treated with medications for bacterial infections. The complications associated with epididymitis are the formation of abscesses in the scrotum and male infertility.
