Endoscopy :
Endoscopy is a procedure which is done by the medical gastroenterologist to rule out certain diseases of gastrointestinal tract. Some of the diseases which can be ruled out by endoscopy are polys, internal bleeding ,cancer ,ulcers, gastritis , acid peptic disease , perforation etc. Patients presenting with symptoms of loss of appetite , bleeding in the stools , blood in the vomiting , gastric issues are subjected to endoscopy. Endoscopy is generally done under short general anaesthesia. Some of the risks involved during the endoscopy are bleeding ,infection, perforation, breathlessness and dizziness. Another form of endoscopy is capsule endoscopy is where patient is subjected to swallow a camera pil which studies the digestive tract. Endoscopy is also used for removal of biopsies.
