Cough :
When the throat or lungs are clogged by foreign particles or mucus, the brain sends signals to muscles in the chest and stomach to force air out of the lungs. This reflexive reaction is called coughing. Besides exposure to dust or pollution, the triggers of a cough include infections, smoking, and asthma. Coughing gets better or subsides fully on its own in two weeks. However, it's important to get medical attention if an individual is having serious bouts of coughing or is experiencing other symptoms like bloody or discolored mucus. In many cases, doctors are able to diagnose the cause of the cough by looking inside the throat. However, in some cases, doctors may order mucus analysis tests, allergy tests, or a chest X-ray to diagnose the problem.
