Blood In Stools:
Blood in stools can be of various forms depending upon the underlying medical condition from black colour stool (melena, upper gastrointestinal bleed) to bright red colour stool. Blood in stool can occur due to a bleed in any region the gastrointestinal tract from various underlying conditions like ulcers, inflammation of the diverticula, hemorrhoids, anal fissure, IBD(inflammatory bowel disease), infections due to bacteria, virus or parasites, cancer of colon, rectum or anus etc,.Other signs and symptoms that are associated with blood in stools includes abdominal pain, diarrhoea, constipation, weakness, fatigue, pale skin and anemia in severe untreated cases. Immediate diagnosis and management of the underlying condition is essential to avoid any further complications.
