Black Stool :
Black stool is called melena in medical terms. The appearance of blood in the stools is described as the black stools. Blood is turned into a black colour while it is travelling through the digestive tract. The causes of black stools can be inflammation, such as gastritis, peptic ulcer disease, gastrointestinal perforation, erosion of the lining in the stomach, a tear in the esophagus, swollen veins in the stomach or esophagus, and stomach cancer. There are also causes of black stools, such as activated charcoal, iron supplements, and dark food items such as blueberries taken in large quantities.
