Angioplasty / Balloon Angioplasty :
Angioplasty is described as a minimally invasive surgery that aims to create more space inside an artery, allowing blood flow with ease. Angioplasty is divided into several types, such as angioplasty with or without stenting, excimer laser coronary angioplasty (ELCA), and balloon angioplasty, based on the techniques used. Balloon angioplasty is indicated to deal with conditions like heart attack, carotid artery disease, coronary artery disease, chronic kidney disease, peripheral artery disease and atherosclerosis. A medical balloon is used in balloon angioplasty to move the plaque out of the way of the artery wall, off to the side. An imaging procedure called an angiogram is preferred to guide angioplasty. The side effects experienced after balloon angioplasty include allergic reaction to the contrast dye or anesthetic, a repeat blockage in the absence of a stent in the kidney, artery, or blood vessel, damage to the heart, abnormal heartbeats, low blood pressure, blood clots, and stroke.
