Alzheimers disease :
Whereas the exact cause of Alzheimer's is yet to be defined, it has been proven to be linked with the presence of abnormal proteins in the brain called amyloid plaques and tau tangles. The following factors have been thought to possibly predispose one to the risk of Alzheimer's through probable risk factors, such as genetic factors, age factor, family medical history, or poor lifestyle habits including physical inactivity, faulty diet, and smoking.
The symptoms start with just minor mild amnesia of not being able to recall some recent events or names, and it eventually advances to more disabling cognitive impairments as with disorientation, confusion, mood swings, and inability to perform familiar tasks. This treatment may only be a delay on the progression and some relief of symptoms rather than curing Alzheimer's disease. Cholinesterase inhibitors medicines have shown to improve memory and thinking temporarily. Changing the lifestyle, cognition activities, and support by caregivers became very important factors to have increased the quality of life for patients suffering with Alzheimer's.
