Alcoholic Liver Disease :
Alcoholic liver disease is a chronic disease resulting from chronic excessive alcohol use. It varies from mild fatty to more dangerous conditions of alcoholic hepatitis and cirrhosis. Fatty liver arises due to the collection of excess alcohol in the liver cells, which makes them enlarged and fatty. Alcoholic hepatitis is an inflammatory condition; hence it can present with quite a number of symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, and jaundice. The most serious form of Alcholic liver disease is cirrhosis where healthy tissues get replaced by scar tissue in the liver. However, again, the effect of Alcholic liver disease on an individual varies with factors like amount and period of intake of alcohol, inherited, and general factors as well. Abstinence from alcohol forms the requirement for monitoring further progressions of Alcholic liver disease and improvement of the condition of the liver. Treatment for alcholic liver disease includes medical management initially and extend upto liver transplant in some individuals.
