Venerologist :
A venereologist, also called a venerologist in common language, is a doctor who specialises in sexually-transmitted diseases. These doctors earn an MD in DVL after completing an MBBS to earn the title of venereologist.
Venereologists are primarily trained in diagnosing and treating conditions like chlamydia, syphilis, gonorrhea, HIV, HPV and herpes. Besides treating STIs, venereologists can also provide relief from some urinary and reproductive conditions. It is important to consult these specialists for symptoms like vaginal discharge, pain during intercourse, pain during urination, and unusual growths on the genitals. These doctors can also provide relief from symptoms like abnormal bleeding from the vagina and blisters on the anus. Venereologists usually treat their patients with oral medications, ointments and injections. They also help their patients follow safe sex practices and prevent further sexual problems.
