Interventional Pulmonologist :

An interventional pulmonologist is a pulmonary specialist who diagnoses and treats difficult lung and airway disorders with minimally invasive interventions. A pulmonologist after completing his specialisatin in pulmonology undergoes a training in performing interventional procedures like ablation , stent placement and bronchoscopy. He or she will focus on diseases such as lung cancer, asthma that is hard to control or has caused significant lung damage, blockages in the airways, and chronic lung infections. This approach differs from surgery because it utilizes bronchoscopy - a tube with a camera inserted into the lungs laser treatment, and stent placement to treat or relieve symptoms of lung conditions. They can also perform biopsies to ascertain lung diseases or drain liquid in the lungs.

Interventions in pulmonology really do help when it comes to treatment for conditions that may need little to no serious surgery but demand proper intervention. Such patients tend to recover much faster after these treatments. Occasionally, treatments become the best options for avoiding procedures that need to be more invasive. Such treatments tend to go hand-in-hand with medication and any other forms of therapies that are required to keep a check on lung health over the long term.
