Pancreatic Cancer :
Pancreatic cancer occurs when the cells of the pancreas mutate and multiply to form a tumor. The pancreas produces hormones that control blood sugar levels, and enzymes that help in digestion. Types of pancreatic cancer include exocrine tumors and neuroendocrine tumors. Symptoms include dark urine, jaundice, light-colored poop, middle back pain, upper abdominal pain, fatigue, itchy skin, gas, bloating, nausea, vomiting, lack of appetite, blood clots, weight loss and new-onset diabetes. Risk factors of pancreatic cancer include smoking cigars and cigarettes, obesity, type 2 diabetes, exposure to chemicals like pesticides, chronic pancreatitis, hereditary chronic pancreatitis, and hereditary syndromes with changes in the genes such as BRCA1 or BRCA2. Complications may include metastasizing to nearby blood vessels, lymph nodes, liver peritoneum, and lungs. Diagnosis is made by imaging tests like CT scans, MRI, PET and endoscopic ultrasound, blood tests, biopsy and genetic testing.
