Lump in the Neck :
Neck lump: Common causes for the neck lumps are due to the swelling or inflammation of the lymph nodes present in the neck which generally happens if there is any underlying infection such as throat pain , mouth ulcer, tonsillitis etc. They are prone to occur in any age group and are very common.A doctor should be consulted if the lumps in the neck persisting more than 2 weeks associated with breathing difficulty or swallowing of food or if the size of the lumps are increasing and painful.Ultrasound of the lump and needle biopsy would be suggested by a doctor to rule out the other causes such as malignancy.
