Laryngologist :
A laryngologist is a medical doctor who specializes in managing illnesses and injuries of the larynx. To qualify as a laryngologist, one should complete five and half years of graduation from a medical college and post-graduation in ENT, followed by a super specialization in laryngology. The wide range of diseases that a laryngologist treats are noncancerous vocal cord growths, laryngeal cancer, laryngeal papillomatosis, laryngeal stenosis, laryngitis, laryngopharyngeal reflux (LPR), dysphagia (difficulty in swallowing), spasmodic dysphonia, vocal cord hemorrhage, vocal cord lesions, vocal cord dysfunction (VCD), vocal cord paralysis and voice disorders. One should visit a laryngologist when they observe breathing or swallowing difficulties, which are due to the involvement of the larynx and other symptoms like hoarseness which do not improve over a period of time.
