Trachoma :
Trachoma is known as an eye condition that can affect the eye, and it is caused by a bacterium known as Chlamydia trachomatis. Trachoma will cause blindness, which will be irreversible. Trachoma will begin as an infection known as pink eye, and the symptoms of trachoma will be irritation, eye discharge, and redness. The symptoms that are experienced in trachoma will be swollen eyelids, red eyes, irritated eyes, discharge from the nose, blurred vision, and watery discharge from the eyes. The symptoms which will be observed in advanced trachoma include not see light, tightened eyelashes, inward turned eyelids, vision impairment, severe pain, and complete blindness. The diagnosis of trachoma will depend on the routine eye examination and by collecting eye fluid with a swab in order to find out the bacteria that cause it. Trachoma will be managed with medications like antibiotics. Surgery is advised in case of repetitive trachoma infections. When there is severe damage to the cornea, corneal transplantation is suggested.
