Syphilis :
Syphilis is a sexually transmitted disease caused by a bacteria, which leads to severe health problems. Syphilis progresses in four stages such as primary syphilis, secondary syphilis, late (tertiary) syphilis, and latent syphilis. Late syphilis causes brain damage, cognitive complains, dementia, heart problems, seizures, blindness, movement disorders, muscle problems, and nerve damage. The presenting complains of syphilis include an ulcer like sore and in women, the affected areas would be in or around the vagina, vulva, on the lips or in the mouth, and around the anus or inside the rectum. Syphilis sore presents in men under the foreskin of the penis, on the penis or scrotum, on the lips or in the mouth and around the anus or inside the rectum. The bacterium causing syphilis is Treponema pallidum. The best treatment for syphilis includes prescribing antibiotic medications, mainly Penicillin.
