Stye :
Stye is a pimple like swelling on the eyelid that may be painful and is caused by infection of an oil gland. It can appear to be like an acne and is usually red, inflamed, and sometimes when touched it feels hot. Styes may be painful, itchy, watery eyes and photophobia. Some of the possible causes for styes include washing or rubbing the eyes with dirty hands and application of old or unsanitary eye cosmetics. Most cases of styes are easy to manage. You need to apply heat on the affected area for about 10-15 minutes, several times a day to help relieve pain and inflammation. Non-prescription medication may also help with pain, the kind of drugs that would easily be available or purchased from a store. As much as possible, do not attempt to squeeze or pop this part as it will only worsen the infection. Styes should improve in two to three days, otherwise, they may need to be lanced by a doctor, or if they become painful or cause vision problems, a doctor will have to prescribe antibiotic cream.
