Snoring :
Snoring is a common condition which is characterized by grumbling or rattling sound people make while sleeping. This condition happens when there is an obstruction in the airway. The sounds of snoring are differently made by each person such as such some make quiet vibrations, while some make sounds like whistling, grumbling, snorting, and rumbling sounds. Those people who snore a lot also toss and turn during sleeping, experience fatigue, wake up with sore throat, have headaches, feel moody, and have difficulty focusing. Snoring is evaluated by physically examining the nose, mouth and throat for airways and conducting sleep studies to identify sleep disorders like sleep apnea. Snoring can be dealt by making lifestyle modifications, using certain medications to relieve nasal congestion and thus help to breathe freely, using nasal strips and wearing oral appliances like mouth guards. Surgical treatments for snoring depend on the cause like septoplasty to correct the deviated septum, tonsillectomy and adenoidectomy to remove tonsils and adenoids, respectively.
