Scabies :
Scabies is a infectious skin rash that commonly affects children. It is caused by a mite called Sarcopted scabiei, which infects the folds in between the fingers and toes, folds in the thighs and genital region, bends at the wrists and knees, under fingernails, under the rings, in the region around watch bands, bracelets and the nipples and area around the waist. The symptoms of scabies are burrowing tracks or bumps that are observed as raised, skin colored lines, intense itching, that worsens at night and makes it hard to sleep, and painful bumps or sores which may get infected due to scratching. Scabies is treated using various methods like taking medications like ivermectin majorly, steroid creams, antibiotics and antihistamines, ointments and topical lotions. Scabies affects majorly in People who live in crowded conditions, infants, children and elderly people, mainly those who live in nursing homes, sexually active people and people with weakened immune system are at higher risk of developing scabies.
