Pituitary Problems :
The pituitary gland is the master endocrine gland that releases a number of hormones that regulate other glands in the body to control many biological functions in the body. Over-activity or under-activity of the pituitary gland may lead to a wide range of disorders. Hyperpituitarism leads to conditions like acromegaly, gigantism, Cushing's disease, hyperprolactinemia, and Hypopituitarism leads to growth hormone deficiency, diabetes insipidus, hypogonadism, adrenal insufficiency, and hypothyroidism. People with pituitary problems experience symptoms like vision concerns, headaches, hormonal imbalances, lack of growth or excess growth in children, male and female infertility, irregular periods, unexplained weight gain or weight loss, depression and anxiety. They can be diagnosed through hormonal evaluation by an Endocrinologist, blood tests, and MRI scans. Treatment plans include medical management, hormone replacement, and surgical management if needed. Early consultation with an Endocrinologist is recommended for better treatment plan management to avoid any further complications.
