Phototherapy :

Phototherapy is a non invasive medical technique that uses light of different wavelengths to treat various medical conditions. It is most commonly used in neonatology in newborns with jaundice known as neonatal jaundice in which light of 460-490nm is used which converts bilirubin to water soluble forms that helps in eliminating it without the involvement of liver, thus treating the jaundice. It is also used in other conditions like vitiligo, psoriasis, eczema, lichen planus, certain fungal infections, migraines, pain management (LLLT), seasonal affective disorder(SAD), acne(blue light therapy), skin aging(red light therapy) and hair loss etc. Phototherapy has to be administered under the supervision of a trained medical professional to get the desired results and avoid complications like eye damage, dehydration, skin burns and bronze baby syndrome etc.
