Nipple discharge :
Nipple discharge is a term used when there is a leakage of fluid from one or both breasts. It is most commonly seen in women after the birth of a child and in late pregnancy. Nipple discharge can be normal or abnormal. It is considered normal when discharge comes from both breasts only when nipples are squeezed, which is yellow, clear, brown, green, and white in color. It is considered abnormal when the discharge comes from one breast on its own, which is bloody and associated with symptoms like breast pain, swelling, and redness to the nipple. Causes of abnormal nipple discharge include papilloma, abscess, hypothyroidism, pituitary gland tumor, fibrocystic breast, cancerous breast, and Paget's disease. Diagnosis can be made by performing a breast X-ray, ultrasound, biopsy, hormone blood test, and pictogram. Treatment involves stopping or changing medication, removing the lump, if any, removal of the milk duct, and antibiotics.
