Missed Periods :
Missed periods refer to the absence of menstruation for 3 to 6 months. It may caused by stress, low body weight, polycystic ovary syndrome, hormone problems like prolactinoma, hyperthyroidism, hypothyroidism, congenital adrenal hyperplasia, asherman's syndrome and Cushing's syndrome, genetic problems, early menopause, medicines like antipsychotic medicines, opiates and metoclopramide. Missed periods may also be seen before puberty, during pregnancy, during breastfeeding, and after menopause. Complications of missed periods can be infertility, osteoporosis, and heart disease. A missed period can be induced by taking a few moments to stretch, making a cup of tea, going for a stroll around the block, having a steamy shower, applying heat to the tensed abdominal vessels, and increasing blood flow to the area, by taking foods like pineapple, ginger, turmeric, foods rich in vitamin c and semi ripe papaya.
