It can be easily transmitted to individuals in direct contact with infected persons, poor sanitation or hygiene facilities and with severe malnutrition. Leprosy can manifest clinically as skin lesions or bumps on face, upper and lower limbs, numbness or tingling sensation of extremities, muscle weakness and frequent eye infections. Leprosy is now a curable disease with spaced out monthly regimen of antibiotics as multidrug therapy. An early diagnosis of the condition can prevent any disability problems.
