Lap Hysterectomy :
Lap hysterectomy is a minimally invasive surgery performed to remove the uterus and cervix by making small incisions in the abdomen. The fallopian tubes and ovaries are also removed in a few scenarios. Lap hysterectomy is done by inserting a laparoscope (a thin, flexible tube attached with a video camera in the end) into the abdomen to look into the uterus. The advantages of lap hysterectomy include less pain, less bleeding, faster recovery rate as there is less scarring and when compared to the traditional hysterectomy, the risk of infection is lowered. Lap hysterectomy is recommended to manage uterine fibroids and other non-cancerous tumors, abnormal or heavy vaginal bleeding, severe pelvic pain, conditions with the lining of the uterus such as severe endometriosis, adenomyosis, hyperplasia, serious complications of childbirth like uterine rupture, uterine prolapse that may cause fecal incontinence or urinary incontinence and ovarian, cervical or uterine cancer.
