Laminectomy :
Laminectomy is a surgery that is performed to relieve pressure on the nerves and is done by removing the arched back piece of the vertebrae that causes pain, numbness or tingling in the back, legs and arms. This procedure is indicated for medical conditions including arthritis, bone spurs, degenerative back conditions, bone fractures, spinal stenosis, herniated disk and spinal tumors. Laminectomy is considered a treatment option if a person experiences symptoms like back, neck or shoulder pain, bowel and bladder problems, numbness and weakness in arms and legs. The potential complications of laminectomy are infection, little to no pain relief after the surgery, bleeding, headaches, nerve damage, back pain even after the surgery in the future, bowel and bladder complaints and blood clots.
