ITP :
ITP(Immune Thrombocytopenia) is an autoimmune blood disorder. The body's immune system attacks platelets that control the bleeding. It may be caused by medicines that cross-react with platelets and viral infections. People with HIV, hepatitis C, rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, low-grade lymphomas, and leukemias are at increased risk of developing ITP. Symptoms may include petechiae, purpura, bruises, bleeding gums, blood in poop and urine, heavy menstrual periods, heavy nosebleeds, hematoma, and fatigue. Diagnosis is made by complete blood count, peripheral blood smear, blood tests, urine tests, and bone marrow tests. Treatment plans include treating underlying infection, platelet transfusion, having surgery, and using medications like corticosteroids, immunoglobulin receptor agonists, and immunosuppressants.
