Hole in Heart :
A hole in the heart refers to a congenital heart defect. It may occur due to chromosomal abnormalities or exposure to chemicals and drugs during pregnancy. Factors that influence the risk of a hole in the heart are pregnant people with conditions like diabetes, rubella, maternal phenylketonuria, and lupus, and medications like statins, thalidomide, lithium, and isotretinoin. Symptoms include shortness of breath, tiredness, swelling in feet, legs, and belly area, irregular heartbeats, palpitations, poor eating, physical growth rate, tiredness, breathlessness, heart murmur, severe headaches, stroke, and transient ischemic attack. Diagnosis can be made by echocardiogram, chest X-ray, electrocardiogram, pulse oximetry, cardiac magnetic resonance imaging scan, computerized tomography scans, and cardiac catheterization.
