Hair Loss :
Hair loss is known as alopecia which is the medical term used when a person's hair becomes thinner or sheds, leading to bald spots or general thinning. This can occur on the head or elsewhere on the body. There are several reasons that contribute to hair loss that include genetic characteristics, hormonal changes, illnesses, drugs, stress, and inadequate nutrition. The most common type of hair loss is male-pattern hair loss (androgenetic alopecia) and is associated with genetics or hormonal characteristics. Some other common causes include disorders of the thyroid, iron deficiency, scalp infections, or autoimmune disorders wherein the body begins attacking its own hair follicles, such as in alopecia areata. Depending on the cause of hair loss, treatment may take a different form from drug-based medicines such as minoxidil and finasteride to modifying lifestyle, such as improvement in diet, stress management, and usage of gentle hair care products. Even hair transplant surgery may be necessary in certain cases where it can be considered as a permanent hair restoration.
