Haemorrhoidectomy :
Hemorrhoidectomy is a procedure done to remove hemorrhoids, also known as piles which are enlarged blood vessels within the lower part of the anus. It is recommended when the hemorrhoids are large and complicated and when the nonsurgical treatments don’t work. Types of hemorrhoidectomy are stapled hemorrhoidectomy, where the hemorrhoids are pulled back inside the rectum and stapled, and trans anal hemorrhoidectomy, where the arteries that supply blood to hemorrhoids are closed, which helps in the shrinkage of piles. Risks include blood clots, adverse reactions to anesthesia, wound infection, and excessive bleeding. Complications include slow healing, excessive pain, urinary retention, constipation, narrowing of the anal canal, and difficulty holding in bowel movements due to nerve or muscle damage.
