Gonorrhoea :
Gonorrhea is a sexually transmitted infection caused by the bacteria called Neisseria gonorrhoeae. It affects the genital parts but may also affect other parts of the body like the throat, eyes, or rectum. Gonorrhea is transferred by sexual contact with an infected person, via vaginal or anal intercourse, and then spreads to the throat as well. Most of the time, gonorrhea does not show signs and symptoms. But when it does it is often accompanied by painful urination, unusual discharge from the penis or vagina, sore throat, or painful intercourse. Untreated gonorrhea may result in severe complications for a woman and conditions such as PID that could lead to infertility and in men, infection of epididymitis, which also can lead to infertility. Gonorrhea is treated with medications like antibiotics, but antibiotic-resistant strains of gonorrhea are widespread and therefore it is a good practice to complete the full course of treatment provided by a doctor. Early treatment and cure before complications occur inhibit this disease.
