FESS :
FESS stands for Functional Endoscopic Sinus Surgery, a minimally invasive procedure that aims at managing sinus conditions. FESS is performed using a nasal endoscope and advanced instruments through the nostrils without making any incisions around the nose to remove the blockages in the sinuses. FESS is indicated to treat chronic sinus inflammation or sinus infections that do not improve with medical treatments, other sinus related issues and nasal polyps, to restore proper ventilation and drainage within the sinuses. FESS is the best alternative to traditional sinus surgery, as the traditional types involve making larger incisions on the face with more scarring and longer recovery times. The side effects of FESS are loss of sense of smell, loss of vision in one eye, or having double vision after the surgery, unusually heavy bleeding, tearing eyes, leakage of cerebrospinal fluid, followed by meningitis.
