Earwax blockage :
Earwax refers to a wax-like fluid produced by the tiny glands present in the ear. Earwax blockage or cerumen impaction occurs when the release of earwax is increased. This causes ear pain, itchiness, ringing in the ears, hearing loss, and many other complaints. People who use hearing aids and those with a lot of hair in their ears usually have this condition. Earwax blockage also occurs in people with conditions like eczema, those who put cotton swabs or other items in the ears and people with developmental disabilities. The presenting complaints of earwax impaction are a feeling of fullness in the ear, pain in the ear, tinnitus, hearing loss, itchiness in the ears, dizziness and odour or discharge coming from the ears. To remove excess earwax easily, solutions like saline, glycerin, mineral oil and baby oils that dissolve earwax are used along with other methods like ear irrigation, in- office earwax removal and cleaning the ears properly.
