Corneal Ulcer :
A corneal ulcer is a sore that forms in the corneal tissue of the eye. Generally, corneal ulcers will be caused by infections of the eyes. These corneal ulcers need to be treated immediately in order to avoid low vision and permanent damage to the eye. The corneal ulcer will be caused due to infectious and non-infectious reasons. The symptoms that will be observed in the case of a corneal ulcer will be watering of eyes, sensitivity to light, red eye, feeling of an object in the eye, swollen eyelids, blurred vision, eye pain, and a gray or white spot on the cornea. The diagnosis of a corneal ulcer will be done through tests such as routine eye examination, slit lamp examination, and corneal biopsy. The treatment for a corneal ulcer will be through medications, tarsorrhaphy, and bandage contact lenses. Surgery is indicated if the ulcer has not healed for a long time. The complications that are observed in corneal ulcer will be cataracts, astigmatism, glaucoma, endophthalmitis, and vision loss.
