Congenital heart disease in adults :
Congenital heart disease refers to the presence of one or more structural problems in the heart at birth. Such heart defects may not cause any problems until adulthood. Adult Congenital Heart Disease can cause breathlessness, irregular heartbeat, and tiredness. If the oxygen levels drop because of the heart problem, it can cause a change in the colour of the fingernails, lips, and skin. The presence of ACHD can be confirmed with a variety of tests such as ECG, chest X-ray, echocardiogram, and other tests. The treatment depends on the condition and its severity. In some cases, only regular check-ups are required. In other cases, medications or surgery may be recommended. Serious congenital heart diseases in adults can be resolved with heart implants and minimally invasive catheter-based treatments. Open heart surgery and heart transplants may be required in some cases.
