Club foot :
Club foot is a birth deformity, and it is a birth defect. The foot of the baby will be turned inwards or sideways. Club foot will also be called talipes equiovarus. The symptoms that will be seen in club foot will be a kidney-shaped foot, a higher arch than normal, a deep crease on the inner side of the foot, a shorter foot, stiffness in the ankle, and movement of the foot will be affected. Genetics and environmental factors, such as smoking in pregnancy and the use of drugs, can cause club foot in babies. Club foot will lead to problems in walking, infections of the foot, arthritis, and callus formations. The diagnosis of club foot will be based on the ultrasound scan during the pregnancy, and sometimes it can be detected after the birth. Club foot will be treated with casts and splints in order to correct the curve of the foot. Surgery is indicated if the above methods do not work, and specialized shoes are used for the correction of the foot angle.
