Anal Cancer :

This is a rare variety of cancer which originates from the tissues of the anus the final opening of the digestive tract. The major types of anal cancers are brought about by human papillomavirus infection. On the other hand among other factors that may influence its development are tobacco smoking, immunodeficiency, and a higher number of sexual partners. The risk is more common with patients older than 50 years and those who had experience of anal warts, or HIV.

Symptoms of anal canal carcinoma are painful feeling in the region of the anus, bleeding per rectum, pruritus, unusual discharge, change in bowel habits like straining during defecation. Treatment is generally an adjuvant chemotherapy and radiotherapy combined to reduce the volume of the tumor and kill the cancer cells. In some cases, surgery may be performed to remove the cancerous cells if the spread of the cancer is not yet extensive. It will provide good chances for the effective treatment in case it catches early on. Preventive measures can also be taken, especially on the people who are prone to getting anal cancer. The measures include checking up and maintaining a healthy lifestyle, such as not smoking.
