Allergic Rhinitis :

Allergic rhinitis is a medical condition in which certain people reacts to specific allergens and produce typical symptoms like runny nose , bouts of sneezing, watery eyes etc. Allergic rhinitis can be seasonal (occurs during specific time of an year due to increased pollen in the air ), perennial allergic rhinitis (can occur through out the year) and or episodic.The risk factors include pollen ,dandur,certain weed,grass, eczema, asthma, genetic factors etc.The signs and symptoms associated with allergic rhinitis includes runny nose(clear discharge), headaches, itching,sneezing, conjuctival swelling , erythema, nasal congestion and obstruction etc. Management mainly involves avoiding the exposure to the allergen, medications to relieve the symptoms like corticosteroids, anti histamines, nasal decongestants,nasal irrigation, humidifiers and other supportive care.
