Gonorrhoea :
Gonorrhoea is a sexually transmitted infection caused by a bacteria. It can affect a sexually active individual of any age. An infected female may pass it to her child when giving birth. Gonorrhoea spreads by coming into contact with the vaginal fluid or semen of an infected individual.
The primary sign of a gonorrhoea infection is an unusual discharge from the genitals. An affected individual may not experience any other symptoms. Some individuals may experience pain during urination and intercourse. Gonorrhoea can also affect the throat and cause itching, soreness and difficulty in swallowing. If the anus becomes infected with gonorrhoea, then it may cause an unusual discharge from the anus, itching and pain during defecation. The diagnosis of gonorrhoea involves a lab test of the discharge from the affected area. The treatment usually involves oral medications or antibiotic injections.
